Our congregation is a branch of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, headquartered in Boston, MA. Locally, we are self-governed through a democratic election process. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, is designed to make the healing and educational system known as Christian Science available and accessible to everyone. The complete explanation of Christian Science is contained in the book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by church founder Mary Baker Eddy in 1875.

Overall guidance is provided by Eddy’s Church Manual. For instance, it states:

“Neither animosity nor mere personal attachment should impel the motives or acts of the members of The Mother Church. In [Christian] Science, divine Love alone governs man; and a Christian Scientist reflects the sweet amenities of Love, in rebuking sin, in true brotherliness, charitableness, and forgiveness. The members of this Church should daily watch and pray to be delivered from all evil, from prophesying, judging, condemning, counseling, influencing or being influenced erroneously.” (Church Manual 40:4-15)

Sunday School
Sunday School is held at the same time as our Sunday church service at 10:30 a.m. and is provided for children and young people up to the age of 20. It is a place for them to learn about their relationship to a loving God, through explanation of the ideas in the Bible and Science and Health.

Wednesday testimonial meetings at 7:30 p.m. include readings from the Bible and Science and Health. Attendees participate by sharing accounts of healing and spiritual insights. The meeting also includes prayer and hymn singing.

Our Pastor
The Church has no ordained clergy. In 1895, Eddy named the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as Pastor for worldwide churches of Christ, Scientist. Sunday services offer congregants a healing environment, anchored by a weekly Bible Lesson-Sermon, with excerpts from the Bible and Science and Health. Services also include prayer, hymn singing, and a solo.
